Nandi Awards’s announcement for the year of 2008 has instilled celebrations in the Telugu film industry. The reason being that panellists have given a fillip to offbeat cinema by prizing films like Gamyam and Vinayakudu in prestigious categories.
The selection of Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Direcotr, Best Music Director has also been a reason for cheer. Obviously, the winners are jamborific. It is only a matter of time when the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K Rosaiah, hands over the awards to the winners in a function.

Gemini Films seems to have obtained the Tamil remake rights of the cult hit 3 Idiots, right after the Telugu remake rights were obtained by Pawan Kalyan. Producers at Gemini Films are contemplating on casting Vijay for the movie. While sources say that Vijay is keen on working for the project, no confirmation from the actor’s side has been received by the producers.

Besides, Udhayanidhi is also under consideration for one of the lead roles in 3 Idiots, we hear. The producer is in the radar of many directors and producers in equal measure and the fact that he said he’s not interested in starring in regular masala flicks makes it favorable for him to take a decision about 3 Idiots.

After the success of ‘Sambo Shiva Sambo’, the Telugu remake of Tamil hit ‘Naadodigal’, Samuthirakani has become the toast of Tollywood. Ravi Teja and Venkatesh have showed interest to work under Samuthirakani and the director also said to have narrated a few stories to them. Samuthirakani is currently acting in a Sasikumar directed film.

Meanwhile Samuthirakani will cross the borders to do a film in Malayalam. Malayalam director Padmakumar has signed Samuthirakani to play a villain opposite… you know who… the mega star Mohanlal. Great beginning and great gong as well.

Jai Akash and his team are ready to launch a new project Ayutha Poratam, as the first copy of his previous project KadhalanKadhali is ready. Kadhalan Kadhali has Jai Akash wielding the megaphone as well as donning the grease paint.

Ayutha Poratam (AP) will see Jai Akash in dual role. AP will have two heroines – Preethi Minal and Anita Reddy. Others who are part of the cast include Saikiran, Renigunta fame Theepetti Ganesh, Niraj Purohit, Adhith Srinivas and Gopi.

The story is spun around the sentiments of Tamils in India and Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The shooting of AP will start on February 27, 2010 in Thailand and will move on to Hong Kong, China to can the songs and fight sequences.

The music is scored by Nandhan Raj and camera is by Sai Satheesh.

The film will be released on May 14, 2010.
